BMW EnduroGuard Suit Review – 8 Years and Still Going Strong

Let’s get this out of the way: finding the right motorcycle suit is a bit like choosing a travel partner. Looks matter. Function matters more. And when things go sideways, you want to know the Motorbike Gear beside you can take a beating and still keep you moving forward.

That’s why, eight years ago, I chose the BMW EnduroGuard Suit.

Not because of the badge. Not because it matched my bike. But because it ticked all the boxes without shouting about it. No neon, no Power Ranger vibes. Just a subtle, practical suit built for real-world travel.

The Specs – Real Function, No Fluff

Externally waterproof. That means no fiddling with inner liners. Thanks to BMW’s three-layer laminate paired with their Climate Membrane, you get proper windproof and waterproof protection that breathes.

The jacket and trousers zip together with a full wrap-around closure that blocks out wind, cold, and water. A built-in storm hood slides under your helmet to keep rain from soaking your neck. It’s the small things that count.

There are 13 vents in total, from sleeves to back to thighs. Airflow is spot on. It actually works. For protection, you get BMW’s NP2 armour in the back, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. It’s CE-certified and well-placed without being bulky.

Extra reinforcements include ceramic polymer at key impact zones, and leather patches on the inner knees so you can grip the tank when riding off-road. I’ve dropped the bike more than once, and the suit held up every time.

Built for the Road, Not the Gram (Insta)

Unlike many “adventure” suits on the market, this one doesn’t beg for attention. It just works. It was developed in partnership with Schoeller Textil AG and uses Dynatec stretch and Ceraspace materials in key areas for abrasion resistance without stiffness.

BMW even added thoughtful details like:

Storm collar with hidden hood
Rubberised zippers with glove-friendly pulls
Adjustable cuffs and waist tabs
Connection zipper for the trousers
Long-lasting YKK AquaGuard zips

The trousers have a high waist with suspenders included – they stay put no matter what. And the material dries surprisingly fast even after a full soaking.

Price vs. Value

BMW gear isn’t cheap. The suit will set you back around £1,000, depending on where you buy and how well you haggle. But here’s the thing – after 96 months of hard riding, mine still performs like the day I got it.

No ripped seams. No delamination. Zips still zip. Nothing broken, nothing replaced.

It’s expensive gear, yes. But it’s also gear that replaces everything else. You don’t need a summer suit, a winter liner, or an overjacket. This does it all.

The Update – Yes, I Bought Another One

I didn’t just ride in this suit. I lived in it. A full year of riding, sleeping, sweating, crashing, and cursing in the same jacket and trousers. I never cleaned it. I didn’t baby it. And yet, here we are.

I bought another. Same model, newer version. Why? Because it works. Because I trust it. And when you find something that holds up in the Andes, the Alps, and everything in between, you stick with it.

I’m even buying one for my wife. That should tell you everything.

Final Thoughts

You can spend less. You can spend more. But very few pieces of gear have earned my respect the way the BMW EnduroGuard Suit has.

It’s not trying to win Instagram. It’s not built for showroom posing.

It’s built for riding – real riding – and it’s still going strong.
